Where on this page can I find independent help?
This page, like every other page of this site, carries links to five independent gambling-help organisations, shown with the help links on the page: BeGambleAware, Gamble Aware, Gambling Therapy, G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here, and NCPG. Each is an independent source of help.
These are the only outbound links on the whole site that are not commercial. Operator links carry a sponsored marking. The help links do not carry that marking. They are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when you follow one of them.
The eighteen-and-over restriction appears throughout this site, including on the front page. Gambling is for adults only.
How can I keep gambling under control in practice?
- Decide the amount before you start. A figure you choose while calm is more reliable than one you choose in the middle of a session. Excitement and frustration both push limits upward.
- Treat that amount as already spent. If you think of the stake as the price of entertainment, a loss stays within what you planned. You will not feel that you need to win it back.
- Never chase a loss. Raising stakes to recover money increases the speed and size of further losses. Previous results do not change the odds of the next bet.
- Keep gambling out of borrowed money. Credit, loans or money set aside for bills turn a loss into debt with consequences that last beyond the session.
- Take regular breaks. Time passes quickly during play. Stepping away lets you check how long you have played and how much you have spent, and whether you still enjoy it.
- Involve someone else early. When gambling stops feeling like entertainment, tell someone you trust, or contact one of the organisations linked on this page. An outside view often notices a pattern sooner than you would on your own.
What can't this site do for me if I want to stop?
Spending and time controls belong to an operator account. These include deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion. If you want any of them, you arrange them yourself inside your account at the destination where you gamble.
This site has no account, no form and no server-side application. Nothing published here can switch such a control on, check that it is working, or enforce it.
No one's age is verified on this site, and no gambling takes place here. Any age check happens at the destination you visit.
No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages. That means nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour. It also means this site cannot notice warning signs or step in on your behalf.
If you want to stop or cut back, two steps are within your reach. First, use the controls in your own account at the destination. Second, contact one of the independent organisations named above, using the links on this page.
